FAQ's
Whats the difference between Video and Cinematography?
Wedding video is what has been done since the 80’s. It usually consisted of a 1 person crew with a standard video camera that watched the wedding un- fold from the wings. They tried to be unobtrusive, but failed. With their huge cameras and massive amounts of lighting that was necessary to get a good quality picture. Since then the cameras have gotten better, but there are still differences between a video camera and a cinema camera. Another drawback or advantage depending on how you look at it, of a video camera is the size of the sensor. Video cameras have always had a small sensor. This in turn benefits the depth of field. i.e. where everything is in focus. Great when you get into situations when you need to make sure the bride or groom or speeches are sharp. The downfall of this is that everything is usually in focus... Like the back- ground with people or things that you would rather not have in focus.. Especially an unflattering object that if not there would make that shot beautiful.. The other thing mentioned before is that the video cameras need light. This is usually a problem when you get to the reception when they have to set up blasting lights to light the room. It usually kills today’s reception up lighting, or the DJ’s lighting effects. If the videographer does not use extra lighting the video is usually on the dark side.
How Many Cinematographers do I need at my wedding?
To make a movie, do they use 1person doing all the filming, setup, lugging gear etc... lol nope, but now a days its much more efficient then years ago, but in a short answer its. usually min. 2 max 4 people to get all the different angles to put a nice film together.
Audio... Does it really matter?
Lets put it this way, if you were to watch a movie or a TV show and there was no audio, would you keep watching it? Same with your wedding film. If the audio is crap you are not going to enjoy watching it let alone your friends.
